Celebrating its 65th Anniversary with an awards dinner the United Negro College Fund announced a $7 million anonymous gift to its annual campaign. UNCF also announced the launch of the “Emergency Student Aid Campaign,” a major initiative to provide emergency financial aid for more than 10,000 students at risk of being forced to leave college due to the recession.
UNCF also celebrated the contributions of Black Enterprise publisher Earl G. Graves Sr. and education activist Caroline Kennedy.

Black Enterprise publisher Earl G. Graves Sr. was honored with the Frederick D. Patterson Award for his career of accomplishment, and for his commitment to minority education and philanthropy.

Caroline Kennefy received the UNCF President’s Award in honor of her work supporting reform of New York City’s public schools.
